Ministry of Education: Vigorously strengthen the construction of silver haired economy related majors
Recently, the website of the Ministry of Education released the "Reply to Proposal No. 0516 of the Second Session of the 14th National People's Congress", responding to the committee member's "Proposal on Using Labor Education to Support the Silver Hair Economy", which mentioned that the Ministry of Education will vigorously strengthen the construction of silver hair economy related majors and combine labor education with related professional courses.

One is to guide vocational schools to actively establish majors related to elderly care services based on regional development and social needs. At present, the "Catalogue of Vocational Education Majors" includes 15 secondary vocational, vocational college, and vocational undergraduate related majors, including intelligent health elderly care services, elderly care and management, nursing, community rehabilitation, medical and nursing care and management, and modern home service and management. By 2023, more than 1700 vocational related majors will be established; More than 1600 vocational colleges have been established; There are 9 vocational undergraduate programs.
The second is to enrich the supply of courses and teaching materials related to elderly care services. Organize the construction of a batch of national online high-quality vocational education courses such as "Elderly Care", "Elderly Nursing Science", and "Elderly Ability Assessment", develop a batch of national vocational education planning textbooks such as "Suitable Techniques for Elderly Rehabilitation" and "Psychological Nursing for the Elderly" for the 14th Five Year Plan period, and launch a batch of high-quality courses such as "Dementia and Disability Health Care" and "Elderly Health Care and Promotion" on the national vocational education smart education platform. Continuously expand the coverage of high-quality teaching resources and provide resource guarantees for cultivating relevant talents.
The third is to develop teaching standards for elderly care services related majors, clearly requiring that labor education courses be listed as compulsory public basic courses. The Guiding Opinions of the Ministry of Education on the Formulation and Implementation of Professional Talent Training Plans for Vocational Colleges (Jiao Jiao Cheng [2019] No. 13) explicitly require the strengthening of labor education in conjunction with internships and practical training, clarifying the time for labor education, promoting the spirit of labor and model workers, educating and guiding students to advocate and respect labor, stipulating that professional (skill) curriculum should be adapted to training objectives, and curriculum content should be closely related to actual production labor and social practice, highlighting applicability and practicality, and emphasizing the cultivation of students' professional abilities and professional spirit.
