The 28th Annual Meeting of the Foreign Language Professional Committee of the China Educational Technology Association was successfully held in Guiyang

From August 9th to 10th, 2025, the 28th Annual Meeting of the Foreign Language Professional Committee of the China Educational Technology Association (hereinafter referred to as "the Foreign Language Professional Committee") was grandly held in the "refreshing Guiyang". The theme of this annual meeting was "Intelligence Ignites New Journeys, Language Connects the Future: Foreign Language Educational Technology Empowers the Construction of a Strong Educational Nation". Hundreds of experts, scholars, frontline teachers, and industry representatives from all over the country gathered to jointly outline the future blueprint for foreign language education in the era of artificial intelligence.


The event was hosted by the Foreign Language Professional Committee of the China Educational Technology Association and co-organized by Guizhou Normal University.


Opening Ceremony: Summarizing Achievements, Embarking on a New Journey


At the opening ceremony on the morning of August 9th, leaders delivered speeches to kick off the conference.


In his speech, Zhong Xiaoliu, Vice President of the China Educational Technology Association, hailed the 40-year history of the Foreign Expert Committee as "a history of exploration and innovation in the application of foreign language educational technology in New China". He emphasized that in the face of the intelligent era, foreign language education needs to strengthen its digital foundation with "new infrastructure", stimulate teachers' potential with "new literacy", and explore future paths with "new paradigms".


Liu Xinlu, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Beijing Foreign Studies University, praised the theme of this annual meeting as "visionary and timely" in his speech. He said that promoting innovation in foreign language education is a great responsibility, and Beijing Foreign Studies University will continue to support the work of the Foreign Expert Committee and work with colleagues across the country to explore new paths to empower the construction of a powerful education country.


Liu Jin, Vice President of Guizhou Normal University, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the co-organizers. She pointed out that at the moment when the wave of AI is reshaping the paradigm of knowledge dissemination, this annual meeting focuses on "empowering the construction of a powerful education country with foreign language education technology", which is timely. She hoped that the meeting could draw new coordinates for the development of foreign language disciplines in the western region and Guizhou Normal University in the era of AI.




Wang Junjing, the chairman of the Foreign Expert Committee, made an annual work report to the conference. The report comprehensively reviewed the fruitful achievements of the Foreign Expert Committee in theoretical research, standard construction, regional linkage and organizational development in the past year. Among them, the monograph "Seventy Years of Foreign Language Education Informatization in New China" compiled over five years was officially published; "Technical Requirements for the Construction of Smart Language Teaching Environment" was successfully approved as an industry standard project by the Ministry of Education, marking a new level of standardization construction for the Foreign Expert Committee. The report also announced that the committee will focus on launching the compilation of two landmark academic monographs, "AI+ Language Education: Empowering Teachers, Innovating Classrooms" and "Digital Literacy of Foreign Language Teachers: Theoretical Construction and Practical Exploration", to continue to contribute to the construction of a powerful education country.


At the annual meeting, a grand commendation ceremony was held to pay tribute to individuals and units who won five awards, including the "Lifetime Achievement Award for Foreign Language Education Informatization", "Outstanding Contribution Award for Foreign Language Education Informatization", "Excellent Worker Award for Foreign Language Education Informatization", "Excellent Entrepreneur Award for Foreign Language Education Informatization" and "Demonstration Enterprise Award for Foreign Language Education Informatization".





Keynote Speech: Focusing on AI Frontiers, Jointly Exploring New Paths of Education


This annual meeting focused on the deep integration of artificial intelligence and foreign language education, and many heavyweight experts and scholars brought forward-looking and profound keynote reports.


In his report "Thoughts on the Education Standard System in the AI Era", Professor Zhong Xiaoliu of Tsinghua University systematically expounded on how the new generation of information technology is reshaping the education ecosystem, and emphasized the significance of building a standard-led education ecosystem in promoting the digital transformation of education.


Professor Wang Huashu from Beijing Foreign Studies University, in his presentation titled "Integrity in the Age of Intelligence: Exploring Ethical Boundaries and Governance Innovations of AI Application in Foreign Language Education", delved into the three major ethical boundaries of originality, fairness, and privacy in AI applications. He proposed a three-pronged governance framework encompassing technology, institutions, and culture.


Professor Chen Jianlin from Shanghai International Studies University focused on "The Path and Method of AI-Empowered Foreign Language Curriculum Design", revealing the actual connotation of foreign language curriculum development in the digital transformation of education from multiple dimensions such as teachers' digital literacy, teaching modes, and scenario design.


Zhang Xiaoyan, an associate research librarian at Peking University, demonstrated the "Construction Path of Foreign Language Discipline Archive Resource Database under the Framework of Digital Humanities" through empirical research on the "Pacific Silk Road Archive Database", providing new ideas for cross-disciplinary integration and research paradigm innovation in foreign language disciplines.


In the report "Breaking the Mold, Reconstructing, Empowering: Exploring AI-Driven Smart Foreign Language Teaching", Associate Professor Li Zheng from East China Normal University vividly analyzed how AI can solve teaching pain points, reconstruct ability connotations, and lead a new ecosystem of smart teaching, combining the self-developed "AI English GO" platform.


In addition, experts from China Telecom, Dongfang Zhenglong, Shanghai Lingji, Zhejiang Blue Pigeon, Chengdu Weiai and other enterprises also shared their latest technical solutions and practical cases in the fields of SD-WAN, AI translation, smart teaching environment, new paradigm of teaching-learning-examination-evaluation, AI+XR, etc., showing the vigorous vitality of industry-education integration.


Special Training: Enhancing AI Literacy to Empower Frontline Teachers


To effectively enhance the AI application capabilities of frontline teachers, the annual meeting held a special training session on "Artificial Intelligence Empowering Foreign Language Education and Improving Teachers' AI Literacy" on August 10th. Ms. Qi Rongbin from Shangtang Technology and Mr. Dong Jinpeng from Foreign Language Online conducted in-depth and practical training on topics such as "Principles and Practical Applications of Large Model Generation" and "AI Intelligent Agents Assisting Foreign Language Teachers in Teaching Innovation", helping participating teachers seamlessly integrate cutting-edge technologies into their teaching practices.


To encourage academic innovation and practical exploration, the conference held a certificate awarding ceremony on the afternoon of the 10th. Firstly, honorary certificates were awarded to the excellent paper authors who participated in the solicitation of contributions for this annual meeting, acknowledging their active exploration and contributions in the field of foreign language education research in the intelligent era. Subsequently, the conference awarded training certificates to the teachers who participated in the "Artificial Intelligence Literacy Improvement Special Training" throughout the process, encouraging them to apply what they have learned to teaching practice and strive to become innovative teachers in the AI era.

The annual meeting was strategically planned and pragmatic in content, which helped to reach a consensus and point out the direction for the development of foreign language education in the future. The delegates unanimously agreed that at this new historical starting point, the Foreign Language Education Committee will continue to work together with colleagues in foreign language education nationwide, using technological innovation as the engine and cultivating students' moral character as the foundation, to jointly write a new chapter in the era of "foreign language education technology empowering the construction of a powerful country in education".
